Electricité de France

Company presentation:

EDF is an industrial and commercial public establishement. It is the leading producer and supplier of electricity in France and all around the world.

In 2008, EDF signed a joint laboratory research contract with the GPM and the Research Unit UMET of Lille (CNRS management): EM2VM (Study and Modelling of Materials Ageing Mechanisms). The objectives of this laboratory are to combine skills to identify the ageing mechanisms and assess their long-term kinetics of the materials of the main components of EDF's electricity production facilities and also to promote the numerical simulation of materials in order to meet the challenges related to justifying the extension of the service life of the nuclear production facilities of the French fleet. This union brings together and develops experimental means of analysis and characterization and the coupling with simulation.

EDF and GENESIS:

EDF supports the GENESIS platform development. Indeed, EDF gives importance to works carried out in the project of the understanding of radiation effects and thermal aging on nuclear reactor components.
